Scarcity of water due to uncertainty of rainfall has affected lives of people in North Solapur in many folds. It has caused drought or drought like situations for years together. Due to this the poor farmers had to lose crops and fall into vicious cycle of poverty. Covenant Social. Service thus made the very basic necessity of life i.e. WATER’ accessible to the marginal families for domestic consumption and agriculture, through construction of watershed structures like cement check dams, borewells and handpumps. It has also emphasised on forming ‘farmers’ groups’ whose capacities are increased to collectively address water issues of their respective villages. They are also linked with the government to avail various water related schemes with the view of sustainable impact.
