Project on Malnutrition: Combat malnutrition deaths of children through community efforts.
Project Location: Melghat, Maharashtra State, India
Meighat, situated in Amravati District of Maharashtra-India is a tribal region with the highest number of malnutrition cases. A major cause for malnutrition in children is lack of food, scarcity of drinking water and faulty child care practices. Understanding the severity of this situation and to combat malnutrition, the Covenant Social Service works with the malnourished children, their parents, pregnant mothers and adolescent girls in the 3 target. villages of Melghat through nutrition, awareness, health care, water availability, sanitation and livelihood generation. The project was able to save many children who were at the verge of death due to severe malnutrition. The caretakers are being equipped to take good care of their children to prevent malnutrition.
