Rag Pickers Project: Wholistic development of rag picker children.
Project Location: Govandi-Mumbai, Maharashtra State, India
This project focuses on the rag picker children who are between the age group of 3-13 years living in the target slums situated near a huge garbage dumping yard at Govandi, in Mumbai Rag picking is one of the most inferior economic activities in the urban informal sector. The children involved in rag picking face multiple issues like health issues, issues within family. lack of education, lack of food and physical abuse. Covenant Social Service intervenes by providing these rag picker children with non-formal education, admission in schools, access to health care and psychosocial support. It is an attempt to improve the lives of these vulnerable children so that they develop capacity to survive in this world and live a better life
