Disaster Relief

The Covenant Social service (CSS) is a sister organisation of the Hindustani Covenant Church and sister Church of United Church of Sweden and Evangelical Covenant Church of USA in India and is based in Pune in Maharashtra State. CSS is working among the vulnerable groups irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The MCCS started their work in India in 1940 from Mumbai/Solapur and out of this work HCC developed and was established in 1963 and CSS is the social wing of HCC. The CSS at present is still carrying out religious, medical, educational, relief and social, developmental activities with the cooperation and support from UCS and other supporting agencies.

The Covenant Social service has handled very successfully the earthquake relief in Latur Osmanabad in 1993, Floods in Pune 1997 and super cyclone in Orissa 1998 and also drought relief work in 1999 in Gujarat, drought relief in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Maharashtra 2003, Gujarat earthquake 2001 and Tsunami Relief work at Andaman. Flood relief works 2005 in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Flood disaster in 2008 and 2009 in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar and Orissa. Drought relief in 2012, 2015 and 2016 in Maharashtra.

The CSS has responded Fire disaster in May 2018 and flood disaster in 2018 in Kerala, Orisa, HP and Bihar.

CSS today has at its disposal competent personnel and has developed good experience in work involving rural development, social welfare, and relief, medical and educational activities. CSS takes responsibility for the implementation of these project in terms of resources, personnel, funds and material.3/28/20193/28/2019
